GEO January Connections 2018

Happy New Year!

As GEO friends and supporters know, 2017 was a year of change. After leading the organization for almost two decades, Bill Spratley began his well deserved retirement. I was honored to be selected as the new Executive Director and immediately started on a transition that touched every area of our operations. Change can be difficult, but it also brings with it the promise of exciting new opportunities.

As we begin a new year, I want to thank all of you who stood with GEO through this time. Our statewide network of volunteers put together another great Green Energy Ohio Tour that included 71 open houses, 6 guided tours, and 10 different clean energy technologies. Generous donations to the Annual Fall Appeal demonstrated members’ confidence in GEO’s future. And five outstanding individuals agreed to share their commitment and expertise as new members of the Board of Directors.

We start 2018 with a pledge to maintain the foundation on which GEO was built and, at the same time, explore new and innovative ways to pursue to our goals. Board members and I will be embarking on a series of regional gatherings to “Meet, Listen, and Share” with GEO members and community leaders in clean energy. GEO’s strength has always come from the support of individuals and businesses throughout Ohio, and I am committed to providing programs that serve your needs and have the potential to expand our circle of members and supporters. At the same time that clean energy is creating jobs, adding to tax revenues, and protecting public health and the environment, it continues to face public policy challenges. GEO is uniquely situated to educate decision-makers on advantages of the development and deployment of these technologies. Working with our many partner organizations, we can have an impact on these critical issues.

Thank you again for your support of GEO and here’s to a successful 2018!

Jane Harf
Executive Director
