Green Energy Ohio Fall Appeal

Dear Friend of GEO,

Are you looking for a way to make a difference in Ohio?

Climate change touches every aspect of our lives. Ohioans aren’t immune to its effects, but we can be part of the solutions.  Our state is home to a robust clean energy supply chain, to corporations who are prioritizing the purchase of renewable resources, to companies who provide energy efficient solutions, and to residents who make smart energy choices. Equally impressive is that Ohio leads the Midwest with over 105,000 clean energy manufacturing jobs, according to a 2016 report by the Clean Energy Trust.  Our goal for the fall appeal this year is to raise 50 cents for every job that has been created, for a total of $52,500.

Green Energy Ohio has been at the forefront in supporting these activities for almost two decades. Non-profit organizations like GEO must constantly evolve to meet new programmatic and financial demands and transition is not always easy.  The good news is that GEO has a built a solid reputation and an extensive statewide membership base.  We have the necessary creativity and flexibility to succeed in the changing environment.  We pledge to find new ways to facilitate projects and identify opportunities, as we continue to transition into a stronger and even more effective organization.

By supporting GEO, you can make a difference and advance our mission to promote environmentally and economically sustainable energy policies and practices in Ohio, to expand the ranks of Ohioans with a stake in the clean energy future, and to showcase our collective accomplishments!

We ask for your continued support with a tax-deductible gift to Green Energy Ohio.  You can Donate On-line Here.  We also encourage you to join, renew or consider giving a gift membership this holiday season. Membership information can be found at GEO Membership.

Together we can make a difference ~ join us as we commit to a brighter, greener future for Ohio!

A Basic but Comprehensive Overview of Solar Electric (PV)

You have heard about solar electricity.  Perhaps you have even explored putting solar panels on your home.  Or your boss wants to know if solar power will work for your company.  Or you are an architect or engineer and your clients are beginning to ask questions that you don’t have the answers for (and also you need continuing education hours to renew your license).  Or perhaps you are thinking of taking the 5-day certification course but are not quite sure you want to commit the time and money to make that happen.  Then this one-day introduction to solar electricity may be just the course you are looking for.

This workshop is a slimmed down version of our complete 5-day course that leads to ETA certification in PV.  As such, if you take this course and then later decide to pursue the full certification course, we will apply the registration fee of this class to the certification class if and when you sign up (so we will deduct the $100 fee from the longer class registration fee).

This course, due to time constraints, is a seminar-based program (no hands on).  It is designed for individuals with little or no background in electricity or photovoltaics.  But after attending this class you will understand:

  • Basic electrical principles and concepts.
  • Basic Principles and Concepts of Photovoltaics
  • Photovoltaic System Components, and how to select the items that are right in a given situation
  • Standard PV system configurations, and when and why to use each
  • How to conduct a Site Assessment
  • How to Design a Photovoltaic System
  • Sizing and Selecting a Battery System
  • Steps involved in System Installation
  • Rules, Regulations and Paperwork Required
